Winter covers for less dirt in the pool

Winter covers protect winter-proof pools from leaves, dirt and weather during the cold season. They are especially suitable for steel wall pools and permanently installed pools that remain in the garden over winter. This keeps the lowered pool water better protected and reduces cleaning effort when reopening the pool in spring.

Make sure the winter cover matches the pool shape and pool size and can be securely fastened. An additional side overhang ensures that the cover extends well over the pool edge. Many winter covers are green on the top side and black on the underside. This makes them easier to distinguish from mostly blue summer covers and supports proper use.

Note: INTEX above-ground pools and inflatable INTEX whirlpools are not frost-proof and should be dismantled, completely dried and stored frost-free during the winter break. Therefore, always check before winterising whether your pool or whirlpool model is suitable for overwintering outdoors.

Ice pressure pads against pressure from freezing water

When pool water freezes, it expands and can put pressure on the pool walls and pool structure. Ice pressure pads absorb this pressure and relieve the pool during the winter months. They do not prevent the water from freezing, but help distribute the resulting ice pressure more evenly.

The ice pressure pads are placed in the pool before the frost period and arranged according to the pool shape. The graphic shows examples of how ice pressure pads can be positioned in round, oval or rectangular pools. The individual elements can be connected using the pre-mounted hooks. The number of ice pressure pads required depends on the size and shape of the pool.

Note: Ice pressure pads protect the pool against ice pressure, but they do not automatically make it winter-proof. Therefore, also prepare the water level, built-in components, pipes, winter cover and water care properly for the winter break.

Winter plugs for connections and built-in components

Winter plugs close inlet nozzles, openings and water pipes during the winter break. This helps protect the connections from dirt, insects and incoming water and prepares water-carrying parts specifically for winterising.

Before buying, make sure which winter plug fits your pool and the existing connections. At Steinbach, you will find, among others, winter plugs for Ø 32 mm connections as well as winter plugs with a 1 1/2" external thread and O-ring. Which version is suitable depends on the pool model, inlet nozzle and piping.

Note: Winter plugs help close connections, but they do not replace draining and frost-proof preparation of water-carrying parts. Therefore, always check the information for your pool and accessory model.

Winter care products for the winter break

Winter care products support water care when you do not use or regularly maintain the pool for a longer period of time. Add the product to the pool water before the winter break to reduce algae growth as well as stubborn limescale and dirt deposits. This usually makes it easier to start the new pool season in spring.

Before use, adjust the pH value to the recommended range of 7.0 to 7.4. The winter care product works best at a water temperature below 12 °C. Always follow the instructions on the product label for dosage and use, as they may vary depending on water hardness and pool size.

Note: Winter care products are not antifreeze products. They do not protect against frost damage and do not replace the correct preparation of the pool, water level, pipes, built-in components and accessories. Use biocidal products with care. Always read the label and product information before use.
