Styrofoam pools, also known as built-in pools, transform your garden into a permanent favourite place for warm summer days, peaceful morning swims and quality time with family and friends. They are fully installed in the ground and blend permanently into your garden design. Ideal if you are looking for a high-quality pool that will accompany you for many summers.
Steinbach Styrofoam pool complete sets include important components such as EPS pool blocks, a tear-resistant inner liner, a filter system matched to the pool size and an entry solution. This gives you well-coordinated components for your pool project, which you can install yourself.
A Styrofoam pool complete set gives you a well-coordinated basis for building your own built-in pool. The EPS pool blocks form the stable pool structure and also support thermal insulation. The robust inner liner seals the pool, while the filter system, built-in components and entry solution are matched to the respective pool size.
Compared to above-ground pools or steel wall pools, a Styrofoam pool requires more planning and installation work. In return, you get a permanently built-in pool solution that can be integrated beautifully into your garden and is designed for many years of use.
| Component | Why is it important? |
|---|---|
| EPS pool blocks | They form the stable pool structure and support the pool’s thermal insulation. |
| Tear-resistant inner liner | The inner liner seals the pool and protects the pool construction from direct water contact. |
| Filter system | A filter system matched to the pool size supports daily cleaning and water circulation. |
| Built-in components | Skimmer, inlet nozzles and other components ensure a functioning water circuit. |
| Entry solution | Depending on the set, a suitable staircase or ladder provides comfortable entry and exit. |
| Coordinated accessories | The included components are matched to the respective pool set and make planning easier. |
A Styrofoam pool is fully installed in the ground. That is why you should carefully plan the location, excavation, dimensions, technical area and installation before purchasing. Allow enough preparation time and clarify before construction begins whether building regulations or permits need to be considered.
| Planning point | What you should consider |
|---|---|
| Complete in-ground installation | Styrofoam pools are designed to be fully installed in the ground and are not suitable for free-standing installation. |
| Location in the garden | Choose an easily accessible, preferably sunny location with sufficient distance from trees, plants and obstacles. |
| Excavation & dimensions | The stated pool dimensions usually refer to the inner dimensions. Outer dimensions, working space and the technical shaft must also be included in the planning. |
| Technical area | Filter system, skimmer, inlet nozzles, pipes and power supply should be considered early in the planning process. |
| Installation effort | Compared to above-ground pools, more preparation is required. In return, you get a permanently built-in pool solution. |
Stake out your pool, taking into account the external dimensions and the technical shaft, in order to be able to estimate the total dimension required and to divide it up in the garden. When determining the excavation pit, ideally plan for an inner dimension plus at least 60 cm all around. Example: For a Styrofoam pool with the dimensions 8.0 m x 4.0 m, the excavation pit should be 9.2 m x 5.2 m. The polystyrene pool must not be installed in the garden. The Styrofoam pool must not be built on backfilled areas and only above the groundwater level to avoid damage to the foil, fleece and insulation. If you install your pool on a slope, it is essential that you secure the slope pressure with a separate retaining wall. Under no circumstances should the polystyrene pool protrude more than 50 cm from the ground, otherwise special structural engineering will be required.
The swimming pool should not be placed directly next to or under trees, bushes, etc., as falling leaves, needles and the like will result in considerable extra mechanical and chemical care for the pool water. If there is the possibility of a wind-protected location, you should choose this for your eco-pool. Wind causes the water in your polystyrene pool to evaporate more quickly, making it necessary to increase the supply of fresh water. The more fresh water in turn changes the pH value, - which must always be in the ideal range of 7.0 and 7.4 - the concentration of disinfectants and other chemical cleaning products for water treatment. The perfect location for your polystyrene pool is sunny, as this allows you to optimally use the power of the sun to heat the bathing water. When locating the filter system, make sure that the filter shaft is not airtight under any circumstances, as this can lead to damage due to the formation of condensation on the filter pump. Ideally, the filter system should not be installed above the water level. When installing the pool liner, always ensure that there are no creases. The installation should not be carried out in direct sunlight, as the thermal expansion will not ensure an optimal fit of the pool liner. The best time to install the swimming pool liner in summer is early in the morning or late in the evening.
Most of the heat from the pool water is lost via the water surface, but the temperature of the floor also plays a decisive role. Laying floor insulation is highly advisable, as the floor cools down considerably in the winter months and only begins to warm up again slowly in the spring. The floor insulation is done with clamping pallet boards, which are easy to assemble. Floor insulation is a suitable tool for getting the swimming season started earlier.
Due to the complexity of the product, please follow the exact instructions in the detailed assembly instructions.
