Air heat pumps

With an air heat pump from Steinbach, you can extend the summer season and keep the water in your pool warmer for longer. Thanks to the integrated cooling function, the air heat pump can also cool the pool water if it gets too hot. Therefore, you can enjoy pleasant refreshment in the pool even on hot days.

Make sure that the air heat pumps are only suitable for outdoor temperatures up to a minimum of 5°C. If it is colder outside, you should winterize the pool and the heat pump to avoid frost damage. In addition, the set water temperature must not differ from the ambient temperature by more than 15°C.

Frequently asked questions for Heat pumps:

The liquid in the pressure gauge is not water, but a stabilising liquid (similar to glycerine). This liquid causes the pointer to remain stationary even under strong vibrational loads (which occur with heat pumps).

This is condensation water that drips off automatically.

Use the 50 mm / 38 mm adapter supplied. You can attach a 38 mm swimming pool hose using hose clamps and Teflon tape.

All Steinbach air heat pumps are equipped with a titanium heat exchanger and can be used for salt water pools with a salt concentration of up to 0.5 %.

Yes, the air source heat pump is always integrated into the existing filter circuit after the filter system. Note that the filter pump has the required minimum water flow rate.

The most powerful heating is of no use if the following factors are not taken into account: Pools with a cover, e.g. solar cover, have a lower heat loss. Insulated pools have a much lower heat loss than pools without insulation. The filter runtime and thus the operating time of the additional heating must be taken into account. Wait 24 - 48 h until the set temperature is reached. The higher the temperature difference between the pool water and the outside temperature, the higher the energy loss. Take external influences into account. Heat loss can occur due to cold or strong wind. Minimise the flow rate of the heat pump within the minimum water flow rate of (depending on the heat pump model*) , so that the residence time in the heat pump is longer. *4 m³/h-6 m³/h = 049202, 6 m³/h-8 m³/h = 049207

All Steinbach heat pumps have a sound pressure level* of < 70 dB(A).

*The emission volume is comparable to a large household appliance.

EEb means that the water flow is insufficient. Raise the water flow using a bypass kit that regulates the heat pump.

EEc means that the ambient temperature is below 15°C. Wait until the ambient temperature increases. In the cold seasons autumn/winter, the heat pump must be dismantled.

The water that forms in the heat pump is called condensate. This is the moisture contained in the air that condenses when it comes into contact with certain cold components inside the heat pump. The more humid the outside air, the more condensate the heat pump produces (your unit may produce several litres of water per day). The water collects at the bottom of the heat pump and escapes through the drain provided.

Things to know about the pool heat pump

By using a heat pump, the pool water is slowly heated up to the desired temperature. The air heat pump of the Waterpower series from Steinbach is available with a heating capacity of 5100 watts and 8000 watts with a cooling capacity of 3400 watts and 6000 watts. The cooling function is already included in the Waterpower series at no extra charge. The temperature rise per hour depends on several factors and varies depending on the size of the swimming pool and model of heat pump. At 10 cubic metres, the pool water of the heat pump with 5100 watts output heats up by an average of 0.4 degrees and by 0.7 degrees with the 8500 watts output heat pump per hour. Please note: the larger the swimming pool, the longer it takes to heat the pool.

By using an air heat pump, the swimming season can start as early as spring and be extended into autumn. In the summer months it is usually not necessary to use a pool heater, as the sun and the outside temperature heat the pool water sufficiently.

The Waterpower 5000 heat pump can heat or cool pools with a water capacity of up to 30,000 litres, whereas the Waterpower 8500 heat pump can heat or cool up to 55,000 litres. The operating principle is relatively simple and effective: the heat pump draws energy from the ambient air and transfers it to the pool water, which then begins to heat up. The heat exchanger is made of stainless titanium for a long service life. The air heat pump is also suitable for salt water pools due to the titanium heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is a device to transfer the heat from two separate liquids.

The installation of an air-heat pump is possible at any time, even at a later date, but in this case a bypass is necessary. The bypass is used for the targeted control of the water flow and is used for heat pumps as well as for solar systems. All data and functions can be called up quickly and easily via the integrated control system with LCD display.
