Solar covers

Solar covers use the power of the sun in an intelligent way. With a special dimpled foil, solar covers heat the bathing water by 3 to 5 degrees. The start and end of the bathing season can thus begin several weeks earlier or end later.

Frequently asked questions for Solar covers:

No, the manufacturing dimension can deviate due to the material, ambient temperature, etc.

The side with the air knobs must be on the surface of the water.

The small holes in the centre of the solar cover are for safety (same concept as the pool cover). In addition, small holes are distributed near the edge of the solar cover. Sometimes you may notice that the holes are not evenly spread. This will not affect the efficiency or life of your solar cover.

A 305 cm solar cover fits a 305 cm Frame Pool or Easy Pool; however, this does not mean that the solar cover has a diameter of 305 cm. Please bear in mind that there are two different values for the dimensions of solar covers.

No, due to the sun's rays and the lack of cooling by the water, the air knobs can burst.

With the straps and plastic plates included in the scope of delivery, the solar cover is directly connected to the retractor. This allows any type of solar cover to be attached. The solar tarp can be reinforced on the fastening side, but this is not mandatory. The distance between the straps and the retractor must be long enough for the solar cover to lie completely on the water surface when unrolled.

With this solar cover reel, the solar cover is connected to the aluminum shaft using rubber bands. For this to work, the solar cover must have eyelets on one narrow side. If this is not the case, it can be retrofitted with plastic eyelets at any time. There are plastic eyelets in the well-stocked hardware store. A connection without plastic eyelets is not possible, otherwise the solar cover will tear open.

In connection with this roll-up device, eyelets must be placed in the solar cover. These eyelets should always be mounted on the short side. E.g. for a solar tarp for an 8 x 4 m pool, the eyelets are mounted on the 4 m side.

Heating with the power of the sun and a solar foil

Solar covers - also known as thermal foils - protect the bathing water from gross contamination, evaporation and store heat. By using a solar foil, you conserve the heat of the bath water and save energy and costs. The pool water is 3 to 5 degrees warmer and the bathing season can be extended by several weeks with the use of a solar foil. When the temperature changes and the wind blows, the solar cover prevents large amounts of water from evaporating. This also reduces the need to add fresh water. You also reduce the use of pool chemicals for water disinfection as well as the running time of the filter system, as the tarpaulin prevents dirt from getting into the pool and the less dirt, the lower the maintenance effort of your pool. By using a solar foil, you also significantly minimise the heating costs of a pool heating system - heat pump or solar heating. Heating cost savings of up to 70 percent are possible with this form of pool cover.

The solar foil consists of a dimpled side with numerous air cushions and a smooth side. The dimpled side is placed downwards on the water surface while the smooth side is on top.

The solar nap foils are available for oval, round and rectangular pools in professional quality with a thickness of 300 μm as well as for INTEX pools with a wide range of thicknesses and sizes.

With a reel for thermal foils, the solar cover can be easily and conveniently rolled up again with a hand wheel. The solar sheet reels are available for pools with a width of up to 500 cm and are available for mobile or fixed installation. When rolled up, do not expose the solar sheet to long periods of direct sunlight at high temperatures, as the nubs can be destroyed by the heat.

Solar nap foils for round, oval and rectangular swimming pools

The solar bubble foil is placed with the air cushion side on the water surface and can be easily cut to the individual size with scissors if required.

Solar nap foils for rectangular pools in professional quality at a thickness of 300 μm are cut to size and available with the following dimensions (length times width) from Steinbach:

  • 6 x 3 m
  • 7 x 3,5 m
  • 7 x 4 m
  • 8 x 4 m
  • 9 x 4 m
  • 9 x 5 m

Solar nap foils for round pools in professional quality at a thickness of 300 μm are cut to size and available with the following diameters from Steinbach:

  • Ø 4 m
  • Ø 4,6 m
  • Ø 5 m
  • Ø 5,5 m
  • Ø 6 m

For oval pools, solar nap foils are cut to professional quality at a thickness of 300 μm and are available with the following length x width:

  • 5,5 x 3,6 m
  • 6,3 x 3,6 m
  • 7,3 x 3,7 m

Solar nap foils for INTEX pools

For INTEX pools, the solar nap foils cut to the size of the pools are suitable. Place the cover with the dimpled side on the water surface while the smooth side faces upwards. Solar nap foils for INTEX pools are available with the following sizes and thicknesses:

Solar cover reels stainless steel for pools up to 5 m wide

The Solar cover reels for swimming pools up to 5 metres wide consist of a plastic hand wheel, the base is made of stainless steel. With the telescopic aluminium shaft, you can adjust the desired pool size. Included in the delivery is a fastening kit for solar covers with eyelets. When rolled up, do not expose the solar cover to direct sunlight for long periods of time, as the heat can destroy the nubs. Store the rolled-up solar foil in the shade or, if necessary, cover it with a tarpaulin that protects it against UV rays.

Solar cover reels plastic for pools up to 5 m wide

The Solar cover reels from Steinbach consists of UV-resistant plastic bearing blocks and is used as a fixed mounting. The aluminium shaft consists of 3 tubes and can be adjusted to the individual size of the swimming pool for pools up to 5 metres wide. The solar foil is simply rolled up via the plastic hand wheel. Included in the delivery is a fixing kit for all solar tarpaulins. Please note that the solar cover should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods when rolled up in order to avoid damage to the air cushions. If necessary, cover the rolled-up cover sheet with a tarpaulin that protects against UV rays.
